Questions founders ask

The formation

How long does it take?

The company is registered about 3 to 4 weeks after everyone signs, or about 2 weeks with express processing. The clock starts when every person has uploaded their documents and signed. The tax number follows within days to a few weeks. Name approval and registration are done by the Registrar of Companies, so we show an expected date for each step rather than a promise.

What do I need to start?

One company name (we add two backups), a short description of the business, and your own details. Co-founders fill in their own details and upload their own passport and proof of address through a private link.

Do I need to travel to Cyprus?

Not for the formation. You sign online where the law allows. Where an original signature is needed, we send one courier pack with a prepaid return. Most banks ask for a video or in-person interview before they open an account.

Can I choose my company name?

You give one name and we file it with two backups, which you can edit. The Registrar approves the first available one. If none is approved, we file new ones at no charge.

How many directors and shareholders do I need?

At least one director and one shareholder, who can be the same person, plus a company secretary. A partner secretary is included for 12 months in Standard and Ready to trade, and you can book one with Starter.

Who prepares and files my documents?

A licensed Cyprus advocate prepares and files your incorporation documents. Tax registration and yearly filings go to a licensed accountant: your own, or the partner accountant you can book with us at a fixed price. Orisma runs the process and the software, so you deal with one place.

Money and guarantees

What do I pay, and when?

Three packages: Starter EUR 1,090 excl. VAT (formation only, you bring the Cyprus address and secretary), Standard EUR 1,390 excl. VAT (all-in for year one, what most founders pick) and Ready to trade EUR 2,190 excl. VAT (adds bank application help, VAT and express filing). Plus any extras you book. You pay in full once, when you submit, and VAT is added at checkout. Compare them on the pricing page.

What happens after year one?

Company plan from EUR 990 a year or EUR 99 a month excl. VAT (up to 30 documents a month), billed yearly in advance by default: office, secretary, mailroom, yearly filings, routine changes, bookkeeping within your tier. The price follows how many documents (invoices, receipts, statements) you upload a month; above 100 a month we quote. Cancel any time before renewal.

Can I get my money back?

Yes, on fixed terms. Full refund until the advocate starts drafting; after that a fixed amount per stage is kept. The steps and amounts are on the pricing page and in the refund policy.

What if my name is refused?

If none of your three names is approved, we file new ones at no charge, as often as needed.

I already have a Cyprus company. Can I use Orisma?

Yes. Move it onto the Company plan (from EUR 990 a year excl. VAT, same volume tiers) with a one-time takeover fee, or keep your own office and secretary and use the dashboard for free. Bring it over.

Bank accounts

Will I get a bank account?

We can't promise one, because no one honestly can. Each bank or payment provider decides individually, and we have no view inside the banks. We show where founders usually open accounts, and with bank application help we prepare the file and a checklist so you apply with everything they ask for.

Bank or payment account (EMI)?

A payment account from a licensed EMI gives the company an IBAN, usually within days, and suits many online businesses at the start. A traditional bank account takes longer and asks more questions, but some partners and customers expect one.

Tax and running the company

What tax does the company pay?

Corporate income tax is 15% of taxable profit from 2026. Dividends, non-dom status and the IP box are explained in the tax guide.

Is the company automatically tax resident in Cyprus?

Not just by being registered there. Tax residence follows where the company is managed and controlled. Read why a Cyprus Ltd and ask an adviser if your directors live elsewhere.

What does it cost every year?

From the second year: the Company plan (from EUR 990 a year excl. VAT), which covers the address, mailroom and secretary. Every year: accounts with an audit (or a review for small companies), the tax return and the EUR 20 annual return fee. Typical numbers are on what a Cyprus company costs.

Do you do the bookkeeping?

Not ourselves. On the Company plan, a partner accounting firm does the bookkeeping within your document tier. The yearly accounts, audit and tax return are a fixed price from EUR 1,490 excl. VAT a year, booked in your dashboard. Or invite your own accountant for free.

Can someone in Cyprus be a director of my company?

Yes, as a corporate director: a licensed Cyprus corporate services company sits on your board next to you, from EUR 1,500 excl. VAT a year, with Standard or Ready to trade. If the company has to be managed and taxed in Cyprus, ask us for real presence: help finding an office lease, employer registration and a local accountant, set up after a call.

Privacy and documents

Who sees my documents?

Our team and only the partners that need them for a step you chose, such as the advocate for the filing. Your bank file goes to a bank only when you apply with it. See the privacy notice.

Can I get my documents later?

Yes. Everything you uploaded and everything we produced for you stays in your document vault, and you can download it at any time.
